Step By Step Guide To Trace Cellphones & Devices from IMEI Number
A few days earlier, I have shared 10 free & most powerful android apps to to trace your lost/stolen smartphone or tablets which lets you track your smartphone’s real-time geographic location whether your phone is switched off or on. Also, you can do a lot of other things like take snaps, activate alarm, send SMS to pre-defined contact lists etc.
But, what about the simple cellphones or tablets that are not having Android OS or iOS? Here I am telling your the way to trace your lost / stolen cellphones and devices using IMEI Number. Of course, IMEI Numbers are comes with cellphones, tablets, data cards and smartphones too. So you can use this Tracking method to locate any of these devices.
Know Your IMEI Number
The primary thing you need to know is your device’s IMEI Number. It is available at the company sticker that is available on your device. While having Serial No., Model No., etc, the sticker is also having that device’s unique IMEI Number.
You can also dial *#06# to to view your cellphone’s IMEI Number on its display. Also, you can check its Invoice that is also having the cellphone’s IMEI Number.
Call cellphone service center immediately and tell them to block your IMEI. After IMEI Number has been blocked, the cellphone is rendered useless and hence thief will not be able to abuse your cellphone.
Now, you need to file and FIR in Police Station. Take your IEMI Number, FIR Complain Letter and go to cellphone’s service center.
Cellphone service centers are having there own software that will let them to track the real-time location of your lost/stolen cellphone. They can also trace the new number, if the thief have changes SIM Card. So, it will help you to get your cellphone and police to arrest the cellphone thief.
When You’re having Cellphone with you
Install a phone tracking software on your PC/Laptop that is available for each brand of mobile phone. The software will ask for IMEI Number to start tracking your cellphone or device. After that, the software will act as your cellphone/device GPS and you will be able to track its location any time.
Alternatively, you can register your cellphone/device IMEI Number at www.trackimei.com by filling a form that asks for your cellphone’s bill number, model, color, Address, mobile number etc. The site will also help you to trace your device’s Geographic location.
